Building minds with discipline and integrity: How Resonance became a trusted education brand

Purnachandra Rao Narra, Managing Director, Resonance Educational Institutions (Telangana and Andhra Pradesh) is a focus-driven entrepreneur and a proud alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad. Coming from a humble background, he completed his schooling in a government school in Andhra Pradesh.

After six years of professional experience with the Reliance Group and The Times of India, he began his entrepreneurial journey as a first-generation business leader. Over the past 17 years, his commitment to innovation has helped him build successful ventures across multiple sectors.

A teacher since his college days, and backed by entrepreneurial experience, he was driven by a deep passion for teaching and education and chose to become an edupreneur by starting Resonance in Hyderabad. In 2018, the journey began with Resonance Junior Colleges and further expanded into Resonance Schools, Resonance School Integrated Programs, Resonance e-Learning, and several other initiatives in the K–12 education domain.

Under his leadership, the Resonance Group grew from a fairly new brand into one of the most popular and trusted names in education across the Telugu-speaking states. As a result, Resonance has received 21+ awards across national and state-level platforms, and Purnachandra Rao Narra has been recognized as one of the most promising education minds in the Telugu states by various reputed platforms and organizations.

As of December 2025, Resonance trains more than 20,000 students every year across its 50+ campus network in Hyderabad, and today it is a household name for quality education in the city.

In an interaction with Bizz Buzz, Resonance Group Managing Director Rao revealed the growth story. Resonance was recently honoured with the HMTV Business Excellence Award in best junior college category

What inspired you to associate with the Resonance Group and lead its growth in Hyderabad?

Resonance has always stood for academic excellence, discipline, and ethical education. What inspired me most was its strong student-centric philosophy and proven academic system.

Hyderabad, being a major educational hub, had immense potential to benefit from Resonance’s structured and result-oriented approach. I felt motivated to bring this quality ecosystem to the region and contribute meaningfully to shaping young minds.

When you started Resonance in Hyderabad, how many staff members and students were there?

Resonance began its journey in Hyderabad in 2018 with two campuses, around 150 students, and a dedicated team of 50+ teaching and non-teaching staff members.

From the very beginning, our emphasis was on building a strong academic culture, maintaining quality teaching standards, and earning the trust of parents and students rather than focusing solely on rapid expansion.

What is the current strength of teaching and non-teaching staff and the number of students?

Today, Resonance Hyderabad has grown significantly and caters to over 20,000 students across various academic programs. The institution is supported by a strong workforce of more than 2,500 teaching and non-teaching staff members, all of whom contribute to delivering consistent academic excellence and comprehensive student support.

What courses do you offer now? Which year do you remember most in your academic journey?

Currently, Resonance offers integrated programs for IIT-JEE and NEET, along with Intermediate programs and foundation courses for students from an early stage. These programs are carefully structured to align with board curricula while simultaneously preparing students for competitive examinations.

The year I remember most in my academic journey is when I truly understood the impact of effective mentoring. That realisation shaped my belief that the right guidance at the right time can transform a student’s future, and it continues to influence my approach to education.

What makes Resonance unique compared to others in the same field?

Resonance is unique because of its well-researched academic content, disciplined teaching methodology, continuous assessment system, and strong mentoring culture. Our focus on concept clarity rather than rote learning truly differentiates us.

What is the core philosophy of the institution?

Our academic programs are designed by a central team of subject experts with decades of experience in competitive exam training. Mentorship is provided by trained faculty members who closely monitor each student’s progress and guide them academically and emotionally.

How do you ensure personal attention to students?

We maintain optimal student-teacher ratios, conduct regular performance reviews, doubt-clearing sessions, and one-to-one mentoring. Each student’s academic journey is tracked carefully, ensuring personalized guidance wherever required.

How has the education landscape in Hyderabad changed over the past few years?

The education landscape in Hyderabad has undergone a significant transformation in recent years. Parents and students are now far more informed and outcome-oriented, with a clear preference for structured and integrated learning models.

There is increased emphasis on early preparation, concept-based learning, and holistic development. Technology-enabled education, performance tracking, and personalised mentoring have also become integral to modern academic ecosystems.

What trends are you seeing among students preparing for IIT-JEE and NEET?

Students today are more focused, goal-oriented, and aware of the competitive environment. There is a clear shift towards early foundation programs, integrated learning models, and structured preparation plans. Students prefer systematic guidance, regular evaluations, and continuous mentoring rather than short-term or last-minute preparation approaches.

How does Resonance support students from smaller towns and diverse backgrounds?

We provide scholarships, hostel support, bridge courses, and additional mentoring for students from smaller towns. Our inclusive environment ensures that every student, regardless of background, gets equal opportunities to excel.

What are your expansion or growth plans for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh?

As part of our growth strategy, Resonance is launching 16 new campuses across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. These campuses will commence operations from the coming academic year, offering programs for students from Class V to Class X.

This expansion reflects our commitment to making quality education accessible at an early stage while maintaining our core academic values and standards.

What advice would you give to students aiming for success in highly competitive exams?

Success in competitive exams requires consistency, discipline, and belief in oneself. Students should focus on understanding concepts, follow a structured plan, seek guidance when needed, and most importantly, maintain balance and confidence throughout their journey.
